Fastin
“Fastin” is a previous brand name for the appetite suppressant phentermine. The moniker “phentermine,” in its turn, is a contraction of the longer chemical name phenyl-tertiary-butylamine. This diet pill can speed up short-term weight loss by reducing your desire to overeat. Of course, like most other appetite suppressants (except the bogus ones) Fastin is intended to be used in conjunction with an exercise routine, changes to your diet, and behavioral modification.
You may be most familiar with phentermine if you know about Fen Phen. “Fen Phen” is a brand name based on the shortened labels of its two main ingredients, fenfluramine and phentermine. The Fen Phen scandal took place in 1997 when 24 cases of heart valve disease cropped up in Fen Phen users; the FDA subsequently isolated fenfluramine as the problem drug. Fenfluramine and its counterpart, dexfenfluramine, were removed from the public market but phentermine was deemed safe for consumption. It should be noted, however, that phentermine is a member of the amphetamine class and shares certain similarities with many psychotropic drugs such as methamphetamine, which has led the FDA to place it under the Schedule IV class of controlled substances.
Very few clinical studies have been performed since Fastin first came out in 1959. When taken in safe doses it can have wonderful affects on the portion of your brain known as the hypothalamus—the phentermine in Fastin causes this area to release a neurotransmitter called norepinephrine that reduces hunger by activating your adrenaline gland. This means that phentermine essentially puts you into survival mode. It does this not only by altering the signals in your brain, but it also has a slight effect by running the adrenaline and epinephrine all through your system until they trigger the breakdown of stored fat in your cells. With doses slightly higher than the clinical level, users have sometimes achieved a serotonin rush similar to that experienced on a much more intense level by methamphetamine users.
Fastin is meant to give a turbo-boost to your normal time-tested weight loss methods: diet, exercise, and behavioral change. Without these three components you won’t get the maximum effect. However, this routine combined with a safe dose of Fastin will provide weight loss results that far exceed any you may have experienced before, making it an advantageous choice for patients who suffer from a slow metabolism, a thyroid problem, or similar issues. With this type of diet supplement you go on short-burst cycles that last for a maximum of 12 weeks, and then repeat.
Medical personnel advise you not to use Fastin if you have medical conditions that may interfere, such as pregnancy or ongoing nursing of an infant. Even if you are only planning on pregnancy in the near future, you probably won’t want to buy fastin. You also shouldn’t take it if you are currently on another dietary supplement, taking an herbal remedy, or taking a prescription medicine. And of course if you have food or drug allergies you’ll want to consult with your doctor first. If you have a history of high blood pressure, have taken a supplement in the last 14 days that may react with Fastin, or have a medical disorder, Fastin isn’t for you. And if you have a chemical dependency or a history of substance abuse, think twice before using this supplement—after all, it is a member of the amphetamine class.
But for the most part, Fastin appears to be a relatively harmless and well-tolerated supplement. Since it directly targets your adrenaline it may naturally increase your heart rate and elevate your blood pressure when you take it, and people susceptible to insomnia will find their lack of sleep worsening over time. Nevertheless, users of Fastin report that its effectiveness leads to a high rate of satisfaction.
